The Health of Corgi Pomeranian

After you know the estimated size of a Corgi Pomeranian mix, now you need to know about their health. As you know that this dog is a mix, so it seems that they are less likely to have genetic disorders. However, there is a chance where they inherit some health issues from their parents.

Pomeranians are prone to have luxating patellas and tracheal collapse. Luxating patellas can happen when the kneecap slides out of the groove in the thigh.

Corgis are prone to have intervertebral disc disease. It is because of their long low back. By breeding it with a Pomeranian, a breed which does not have a long back, will reduce the risk.

The parents of Corgi Pomeranian have double coats. Also, they shed a lot. It means that you may have a Corgi Pomeranian which sheds, too. So, you have to brush them every day.

Another thing that you should be concerned about Corgi Pomeranian is about weight gain. Corgis tend to gain weight. So, you have to make sure that you give your Corgi Pomeranian enough exercise.

Exercising For Corgi Pomeranian Mix

As you have read above, you need to give enough exercise to your Corgi Pomeranian because on the Corgi side, they have a tendency to weight gain. So, what kind of exercise to give to a Corgi Pomeranian mix?

A Corgi Pomeranian mix is a moderately energetic dog which needs a daily physical exercise. Nevertheless, the suitable exercise that you can give to them is walking. It is because they have short legs which will  not be able to keep a very fast pace.

You also have to make sure that you can stop them from jumping on and off of furniture at your home. If you can stop them from doing it, it will prevent them from injuring their joints and bones.

It is better if you are able to give them stimulating mental activities. By giving them these activities, it can keep the dog smart from unwanted behaviours such as barking which is bothering.

Feeding Corgi Pomeranian Mix

When you decide to have a Corgi Pomeranian, there will be a transitional phase between the breeder’s choice food and the dog food that you will give to them. Then, you can substitute it with the quality and healthy dog food that you choose. You have to make sure that you feed them with this plan consistently until your dog can get used to its new diet.
